RPAS 2026 Speaker Bio | Matthew Pedler Assistant Secretary, Aviation Security Policy Department of Home Affairs Matthew is Assistant Secretary, Aviation Security Policy, in the Department of Home Affairs. In this role, Matthew is responsible for aviation security standards, including the aviation security regulatory framework, cyber-security policy for aviation, and ensuring Australia meets international aviation security obligations. Matthew has extensive experience in the transport security sector, with over 15 years’ experience in transport security regulatory and operational policy. Matthew also represents Australia in a number of international transport security policy and technical forums, including as Australia’s nominated expert on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Aviation Security and Cyber Security Panels. Prior to joining the Department of Home Affairs, Matthew spent time in the Department of Defence in analytical and capability roles, and in private enterprise. Matthew holds a Master of Arts in Strategy and Policy from the University of New South Wales, a Master of Maritime Studies from the University of Wollongong. |
