UAS Industry Participation 
Scholarship


Airservices Australia in partnership with the Australian Association for Uncrewed Systems (AAUS) is providing a scholarship fund to support Australia's rapidly growing uncrewed industry. The purpose of the UAS Industry Scholarships is to foster greater participation and diversity of participants in the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) industry.

The scholarship will be used to pay for costs of training and related activities undertaken by individuals to promote the benefits and generate interest in entering the UAS industry, or to gain additional qualifications or experience in the UAS industry, with a focus on increasing the diversity of those seeking to enter the UAS industry.

Scholarship Benefits

Scholarships of up to $5,000 per applicant will be awarded to eligible applicants to cover eligible activities and costs.

A total of $25,000 will be awarded each year for the next five years.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Scholarships are available to Australian Permanent Residents who can spend the scholarship grant on eligible activities and costs within 12 months of the award.

Eligible Activities and costs include:

  • Training costs associated with obtaining a RePL, RePL upgrades, ReOC, Chief Remote Pilot training, Certificate III in Aviation (Remote Pilot), Certificate IV in Aviation (Remote Pilot Beyond Visual Line of Sight), and BVLOS OCTA Exam training within Australia.  Other training options proposed by the applicant will be considered.
  • Some travel costs will be considered if you live in regional areas.

How to Apply

All applicants for the scholarship will be considered based on them meeting the eligibility criteria.

Applications must include the total amount applied for (up to $5,000) for training and where travel is required, an estimate of travel costs.

Applications must detail:

  • The training provider (name and location)
  • Name of training course or activity
  • Cost of training course/activity.

Applicants must also address a series of assessment questions regarding the scholarship, their interest in the RPAS industry and they eligibility.

Applications have now closed for this round of funding. 

Selection for scholarships will be made based on the applicant meeting the selection criteria and their answers to the assessment questions.
