Ravi Murty is the Founder of Yarra Drones, an Australian
uncrewed aviation start-up developing drone safety and operations management
platforms in close collaboration with government and aviation regulators.
He is an engineering professional and entrepreneur with nearly three decades of
engineering and leadership experience across aerospace and railways, spanning
Australia, Japan, UK, USA and India. His career includes senior roles with
Metro Trains Melbourne, Cyient, Bombardier, Pratt & Whitney and Hindustan
Aeronautics Limited.
Under his leadership, Yarra Drones has been a provider of the CASA-approved
drone safety and operations management web application Fly.Ylobe since 2023.
The platform has supported over 15,000 drone users in understanding where it is
legal and safe to fly and currently offers automated airspace authorisations
at ten controlled airports across Australia. Yarra Drones is part of the
inaugural cohort of UAS Service Suppliers (USS) delivering UTM services in
Australia and is working closely with Airservices Australia and CASA to roll
out UTM services in 2026. The company has recently released its Simplified SORA
module, leveraging AI/ML to automate complex SORA methodology into practical,
repeatable workflows suitable for daily operations.
Ravi holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and has studied Management
and Leadership at Swinburne University of Technology. He lives in Melbourne,
Australia.
