Dr Kate Cameron

Assistant Secretary AUKUS Initiatives

Dr Kate Cameron has held a number of senior leadership roles within the Department of Defence.

Kate is currently Assistant Secretary AUKUS Initiatives within Strategy, Policy and Industry Group (SP&I)  

Prior to this, Kate was Assistant Secretary Industry Domestic Policy within Capability, Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) and the led the development of the Defence Industry Development Strategy (DIDS). Kate was also the inaugural Assistant Secretary for the Office of Defence Industry Support (ODIS).

Kate has been the acting CEO of the Office of Industry Innovation and Science Australia.

She has worked on key Government initiatives such as the Continuous Naval Shipbuilding Program;

supported a number of Defence acquisitions; was deployed on operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and

East Timor; and was the Australian liaison to the US Special Operations Research and Development
