Andrew Jansen

Office of the Chief Remote Pilot

Andrew is the Science Operations Lead within the Office of the Chief Remote Pilot, Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, and leads the translation of applied science and research into innovative operational tools for environmental monitoring. He is an applied scientists with over a decade of experience across academia and government. His expertise extends to using a range of technologies including drones and advanced sensors with deep learning to deliver real-time edge analytics. Andrew focuses on high profile complex environmental problems that require collaboration with diverse stakeholders with the potential to scale across large areas or similar applications. More recently he has been building cloud and AI capability across teams in Parks Australia to derive insights from drone and camera trap datasets and conducts field experiments in data collection in some of Australia’s iconic joint-managed National Parks.
