RPAS 2025 Speaker Bio | Tom Pils Senior Solicitor Macmillan Lawyers and Advisors Tom Pils is a Senior Solicitor at Macmillan Lawyers and Advisors, where he specialises in RPAS law and the regulations surrounding this growing area of aviation. His mission is to guide clients through the red-tape and regulatory risk associated with integrating and utilising RPAS in their operations. With the early self-proclamation in as ‘The Drone Lawyer’ in 2018, Tom has presented on RPAS regulation on numerous occasions across various platforms, including conferences, podcasts, and at seminars for Continuing Professional Development credits for law, and other disciplines. Having written in excess of 55 drone law specific articles as well as ‘The Drone Pilot’s Legal Handbook’, Tom’s unwavering dedication to the industry has helped him to fill the shoes of assuming this title. When actually working, Tom has acted for RPAS pilots, operators, hardware manufacturers, software providers and just about every other party relevant to RPAS operations. The advice has ranged from advising on complex RPAS operations, and liability issues, through to representing operators in CASA investigations. Complementing his RPAS law focus, Tom also practices in the areas of commercial law, disputes & litigation – having represented clients in various commercial disputes in the Local, District, Supreme and Federal Courts. With a double degree in Commerce-Accounting and Bachelor of Laws, Tom understands the drivers that underlie business success, where he provides actionable legal advice in its commercial context.
