AAUS, DCCEEW and Parks Australia would like you to join us for a thought-provoking breakfast session led by First Nations women rangers who are using drones and AI to protect Country, clean up ghost nets and marine debris, and inspire innovation in their communities.

The panel will share their experience and insights into how First Nations-led design is transforming how drones are used and enabling inclusive training delivery. You'll hear how drones are more than just tools: they are technologies for connection. From reconnecting Elders with Country through live drone feeds, to transferring knowledge between generations, drones have the potential to strengthen culture and community leadership in unexpected ways.

They will also share how inclusive and culturally safe training approaches have accelerated capability. Their stories highlight what’s possible when partnerships move beyond ‘engagement’ to true collaboration.

We’ll also touch on a new and exciting initiative: the First Nations ranger–designed compliance app, recently commenced with the Dhimurru rangers, who are responsible for the day-to-day management of the Indigenous Protected Area covering Yolgnu land and sea Country in the Gove Peninsula region of north-east Arnhem Land.

You will come away with a greater understanding of the innate capability, adaptability, and innovation First Nations rangers bring to drone and AI technologies, along with practical insights on how to work alongside ranger groups in meaningful ways.
