Dr Hui Sheng Lim

Hui Sheng is a Hobart-based research engineer with a PhD in marine engineering, specialising in autonomous marine systems for ocean observations. He is currently part of CSIRO’s Autonomous Sensors Future Science Platform, where he focuses on developing technologies that support efficient, scalable, and sustainable marine data collection.

With a strong foundation in engineering and computational research in the maritime sector, Hui Sheng has a proven track record in applying and optimising AI for both crewed and uncrewed marine systems. His expertise includes modelling and simulating marine vehicles and ocean environments, as well as designing planning algorithms for real-world deployment. He has led and contributed to numerous field campaigns, algorithm development efforts, and collaborative research projects, all aimed at delivering impact through autonomous technologies
