Running along side our “Exploring an Unmanned Future” conference in association with Avalon 2019, AAUS is proud to hold its second national drone photo competition to highlight the skills of our drone professionals.

Finalists for the competition will have their drone imagery displayed during the AAUS conference and also during the Drone Showcase at the Avalon Airshow.

Winners will be announced during the AAUS conference at Avalon on February 26.

CATEGORIES

Capturing Australia’s Natural Beauty

This category is for an image taken from a drone highlighting Australia’s natural beauty. It may include a beautiful landscape, sunset, or landmark and display wildlife captured artistically. This category will be judged on the artistic value of the image.

2017 Category Winner: Simon Wilson

Capturing Valuable Industry Imagery

This category is for an image taken from a drone that highlights an application. Examples include agricultural, sports event, real estate, wildlife monitoring or science. This image will be judged on the difficulty obtaining and the value of the imagery taken.

2017 Category Winner: Chris Watson

Image of a Drone at Work

This category is for an image displaying a drone at work or in the community. The photo does not need to be taken from a drone but must feature a drone. The photo will be judged on how well it showcases the technology and its positive impact on society.

2017 Category Winner: Garon Frey

Next Generation Drone Image

This new category will highlight images taken from a drone operated by the next generation, aged 17 years and under.  Images must be taken by a drone and will be judged on the artistic value of the image.

RULES & ELIGIBILITY

  • Competition is free and open to all Australian residents, professionals and amateurs.
  • Submissions must be single photos.
  • Entrants must guarantee that all information provided is correct and that all photos were taken by themselves.
  • Inaccurate information may lead to disqualification.
  • Submission of photos must be made by 5pm (AEDT) January 31st 2019.
  • A maximum of 3 photos per award category can be submitted by any individual or organisation.
  • Photos submitted should be no more than 10 MB in size.
  • It is in your best interest to submit your images as hi-res files without excessive compression.
  • Jpg, png, tiff image file formats are acceptable.
  • All imagery must have been obtained legally by the person making the submission (refer to CASA Part 101).
  • Please ensure your photo does not include any copyright infringements.
  • Please ensure that you have permission from any individuals captured in your photos.
  • All images must be suitable for public display
  • All imagery must be made available for AAUS to freely display at Avalon 2019 and for future promotional activity.
  • Competition is not open to employees, board members of AAUS or their families.
