Australian Association for Unmanned Systems

Avalon 2017 "Transforming Australia with Drone Technology" Conference

AAUS is back at the Australian International Airshow in 2017 hosting the “Transforming Australia with Drone Technology” conference.

This year’s event will focus on the growth and utility of unmanned aerial systems for both military and civilian applications.

The event will be held at RMIT University, Melbourne CBD and at Avalon over 3 days (February 26 - 28, 2017)

CONFERENCE THEMES

Defence of our Nation using RPAS
A series of presentations from Defence, Government and Industry on Defence programs and security applications.

Drones making a difference in Civilian Applications
A series of presentations and discussion from successful end user / operator pairings focusing on civilian applications including agriculture, mining and infrastructure, cinematography, real estate and the environment.

Regulatory Development for RPAS
A series of presentations and discussion from CASA and Industry experts on CASR101 developments and roadmaps.

The conference will explore these themes through conference presentations, panel discussion and a series of debates.  Networking sessions will provide further opportunity for discussion in a relaxed atmosphere.

The 45 minute debates will be held at Avalon on February 28 and cover the following topics:

- Weaponisation of Drones
- Misuse of Drone Technology
- Benefits vs Problems with Amended CASR101

The debates will be moderated and contested by key industry, defence and regulatory figures.

AAUS events are focused on broadening professional relationships amongst members and key industry end users.  Our events are strongly supported by key Government personnel and there will be opportunities to meet with them during the conference and at the conference dinner.

DRONE PHOTO COMPETITION

This year, we will also be holding a photo competition for imagery taken by a drone.  Finalists for the competition will have their imagery displayed at Avalon during Industry and Public days.
