RPDE Quicklook 130: Invitation to Register for the Australian SUAS Industry Capability Demonstration
The Rapid Prototyping, Development and Evaluation (RPDE) program (www.rpde.org.au) supports the Australian Defence Organisation to address complex issues and problems and deliver innovation quickly by engaging directly with industry.
Quicklook 130 (QL130) at RPDE was established by the Sponsor, Army Headquarters, to address the following question:
“How could the Australian Defence Force acquire, maintain and update an SUAS fleet to deliver and sustain a capable SUAS capability over the Life of Type and provide freater opportunity for Australian Industry involvement?”
QL130 is holding a capability demonstration for the Australian SUAS industry to show its capabilities, products and services to Defence.
The capability demonstration will consist of a flight demonstration and a static ground display. The date of the capability demonstration is Tuesday 30th August 2016. Both the flight demonstration and the static ground display will be held in the Canberra area.
The flight demonstration will provide an opportunity for up to six organisations to demonstrate their system in flight. Monday 29th August is available for familiarisation with the site, mission planning and rehearsal flights. Organisations wishing to register for the flight demonstration must provide evidence of public liability insurance coverage of at least $20 million. The flight demonstration site is a ‘bare’ site in restricted air space. Each organisation will need to provide their own shelter and electrical power if needed. Further details will be provided to successful applicants.
The static ground display will be held at RPDE, Level 2, Building 18-20, Brindabella Business Park, Canberra. A small area will be provided for a static ground display by each successful applicant, similar to a trade show. The morning of the 30th August will be available for setup with the display open for Defence visitors in the afternoon. Further details will be provided to successful applicants.
