Australian Association for Unmanned Systems
AAUS Presents at Transportation Infrastructure Conference
AAUS is actively promoting professionalism across all sectors of the industry. Part of our strategy involves greater engagement with end users to educate them on the capability of RPAS, on the regulations that apply to RPAS operators, and on what to look for when contracting RPAS services.
As part of this initiative, AAUS President, Dr Reece
Clothier, has presented at the 8th Annual Victorian Transport
Infrastructure Conference. The conference was held at the Melbourne Convention
Centre and attracted more than 200 delegates from transportation infrastructure
providers (road, rail, and port), construction, maintenance, and survey companies,
transport associations, and transport user groups. Dr Clothier participated in
an open panel session discussing the future use cases for RPAS in the transport
sector, as well as providing a separate presentation on the industry, its
capability, and the challenges being addressed. A copy of the presentation can
be downloaded here:
The response was overwhelmingly positive, with numerous attendees indicating that they were already using, or were actively exploring the use of, RPAS as part of their business activities.
AAUS intends to undertake similar end user outreach sessions with the real estate, farming, local government, and energy infrastructure sectors in the near future. AAUS is also developing a professional code of conduct to address issues relating to the management of privacy concerns and to promote fly neighbourly practices. We are actively seeking input to the development of these guidelines. If you would like to get involved, then please contact us.
